How to find time to exercise?

When you are a mother, it is hard to find time. Life is an endless list of tasks and duties that you have no idea how to get to. So how can you find time to add exercise to your life. Life is overwhelming.

Now I am going to tell you why finding time is essential. When you exercise you carve time out for you. You put yourself first and when you do that you start realise that you have value. You remember that if you don’t look after yourself you can’t look after anyone else long term as you will eventually have burn out, poor physical and mental health.

Let's get to it, do you find yourself saying "I have no time"? First things first, you need to decide that you want to find time. Agree to make an exercise practise a priority. Nice to say it in theory but how do you actually find the time?

Have you ever heard the saying Knowledge is power ? I 100% agree with this, the more information you have, the more tools you have to work with.

  1. Jot down what your week looks like this doesn’t have to take long.

  2. Take a moment to consider and reflect about the type of person you are. Are you a morning lark or a night owl?

  3. Look at your time table, and find 4 slot to fit in an exercise se

ssion in your week. If you can find the same time each day this is preferable.

If you jot down your week and your can't find any slots, try looking at how your spend your mornings and evenings before and after work in more detail. Even go to the extent of writing down everything you do for the week when you do it (this does take longer but is so worth it). If you get stuck DM me.

When I did this I was clear I was a morning person, and that I am best to do exercise first thing, before I do anything else. Before my child is out of bed, and before the day has taken me on a rubbish joy ride. This way I can't find an excuse not to do it. I lay out my clothes the night before and when I slip out of bed, I slip straight into my work out gear and then go to the toilet and get straight to it. Whenever I try to work out later in the day...well it just doesn't happen. I know people who work out after work each day, and I am in awe how they find the strength to do that at that time, as after work I just want to crawl into bed and watch TV. Find what works for you.

How long does it take to form a habit? Well most people say 21 days but hmmmm, I think it really does depend on the situation. You need to take each day individually, and commit to just that day, doing the work and getting it done. You will feel a thousand times better once it is done.

What happens if you miss a session....well nothing. You just have to own it, and put it behind you and just commit to the next session. Shizzle happens, sessions will be missed but life is judge on the amount of times you get back up and carry on.

COMMIT TO YOU, COMMIT TO YOUR PRACTISE!
